Identity verification (KYC)
Before you can place bids, we confirm who you are. Identity verification protects you, protects us, and keeps Premium Auto Bid a clean, compliant place to source vehicles. Here is exactly what we check, when, and why.
Premium Auto Bid is the trading brand of Premium Logistics SHPK, an Albanian limited liability company (NUIS M53004202C, registered with the National Business Center, QKB), based in Kamëz, Tirana, Albania, and serving customers in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro. Know Your Customer (KYC) is the process by which we establish and verify your identity before you can place bids through our platform.
Premium Auto Bid is an independent platform and is not owned by, operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Copart, Inc. Copart and the Copart logo are trademarks of Copart, Inc. Once you complete identity verification, accept the Member Terms and have an approved deposit, Premium Auto Bid places your bids on Copart in real time through the Copart API; there is no human agent placing bids on your behalf. The specific sample cars shown today are clearly labelled demonstration samples for illustration only; they are not real Copart lots and are not biddable.
Why we verify your identity
Verifying customers is not an optional formality for us. As a business that facilitates cross-border vehicle purchases and handles customer deposits, we are subject to legal obligations to know who our customers are, to screen them against sanctions lists, and to prevent our services from being used for unlawful purposes.
- Legal and anti-money-laundering (AML) obligations. We are required to apply customer due diligence consistent with Albanian anti-money-laundering law and with international standards such as those of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Verification lets us meet those obligations and demonstrate that we did so.
- Sanctions screening. We screen customers and, where relevant, connected parties against applicable United Nations, European Union and United States (OFAC) sanctions and watch lists, so that we do not provide services to designated or prohibited persons.
- Fraud and identity-theft prevention. Confirming that you are who you say you are protects you from someone using your identity, and protects us and our counterparties from impersonation, payment fraud and account takeover.
- Protecting deposits and funds. Because all deposits and balances are operator-confirmed in USD, verifying identity before money changes hands reduces the risk of misdirected, disputed or fraudulent payments.
Verification is a precondition for bidding, not a guarantee of any auction outcome. Vehicles are sold as-is by third-party auction sources, and we make no guarantees about a vehicle's condition, title, mileage, history, the result of any bid, or timelines.
When verification is required
You can browse the platform and view our demonstration inventory freely. Identity verification only becomes mandatory once you want to place bids.
You do NOT need to verify to:
- Create an account and explore the platform.
- Browse clearly labelled demonstration/sample vehicles and understand how listings are presented.
- Read our service, fee and compliance information and ask general questions.
You MUST complete verification before:
- Placing a bid on any vehicle. No bid is submitted to Copart for an unverified customer.
- Funding a deposit. A standard refundable deposit of $750 applies, and a deposit of 10% of the vehicle value applies for vehicles valued over $7,500; deposits are accepted only after KYC approval.
- Coordinating any purchase, transport, customs clearance or import on your behalf.
Acceptance of our Member Terms is required alongside KYC. Both your verification and your accepted Member Terms must be in place, together with an approved deposit, before you can place bids.
What you provide
We ask only for what is necessary to confirm your identity and assess risk, in line with data minimisation. The exact documents depend on whether you register as an individual or a business, and on your due-diligence tier.
Individual customers
- A valid government-issued photo ID — passport, national identity card, or driving licence — that is current and clearly legible.
- Proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill, bank statement or official correspondence showing your name and residential address.
- Basic contact details (full name, date of birth, nationality, residential address, email and phone) so we can confirm and stay in touch with you.
Business customers
- Company registration evidence — an extract or certificate from the relevant commercial register (for Albanian entities, the QKB) showing legal name, registration number and registered office.
- Identification of the individuals who represent and control the company, including directors and authorised signatories.
- Identification of beneficial owners — the natural persons who ultimately own or control the company — with government photo ID for each, in line with applicable thresholds.
We may request additional documents where the risk assessment requires it, and we may ask you to refresh expired or outdated documents. Documents that are illegible, expired or inconsistent will delay verification.
The verification steps
Verification is a short, guided sequence. Each step is reviewed by a person before your account is cleared to bid.
- 1
Create your account
Register with your name, email and phone. You can immediately browse demonstration inventory and read our service and compliance information — no documents needed yet.
- 2
Submit your documents
When you are ready to bid, upload your government photo ID and proof of address (individuals) or your registration documents and beneficial-owner details (businesses) through a secure channel.
- 3
Screening and review
An operator checks your documents for validity and consistency, screens you against applicable sanctions and watch lists, and assesses risk. We may contact you if anything needs clarifying.
- 4
Approval
Once checks are satisfactorily completed, your account is approved for bidding at the appropriate due-diligence tier. We tell you the outcome and any conditions.
- 5
Fund your deposit and bid
After approval, you accept the current Member Terms and fund your USD deposit (operator-confirmed). Your bids are then placed on Copart in real time through the Copart API.
How your data is protected
The documents you provide are sensitive, and we treat them accordingly. We collect verification data only for the purposes described here, restrict access to authorised staff who need it for review, and retain it only for as long as the law and our legitimate compliance needs require.
- Purpose limitation. KYC information is used for identity verification, sanctions screening, fraud prevention and meeting our legal obligations — not for unrelated purposes.
- Access control. Verification documents are accessible only to authorised personnel involved in compliance review, on a need-to-know basis.
- Lawful processing. We process your personal data in accordance with applicable Albanian data-protection law and, where relevant, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Retention and deletion. We keep verification records only as long as required for legal and compliance reasons, after which they are securely deleted in line with our retention practices.
For full details of how we collect, use, store, share and delete your personal data, and the rights you have over it, please see our Privacy Policy and our Data Security Policy.
Verification tiers
We apply a risk-based approach: the depth of verification is proportionate to the risk presented by a customer or transaction. Most customers complete basic due diligence; enhanced checks apply to higher-risk situations.
Basic due diligence
The standard path for most individual customers: a valid government photo ID, proof of address, and sanctions screening. Sufficient to unlock bidding within standard deposit thresholds.
Enhanced due diligence
Applied to higher-risk customers and situations — for example business customers, higher-value transactions, beneficial-ownership structures, or trigger events. We may request additional documents, evidence on the source of funds, and conduct closer review before and during the relationship.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to verify just to look at vehicles?
No. Browsing the platform and viewing our clearly labelled demonstration inventory does not require verification. KYC is only required before you place a bid, fund a deposit, or have us coordinate a purchase, transport or import for you.
How long does verification take?
It depends on how quickly you submit clear, valid documents and on the checks required for your risk tier. Legible, current documents and prompt responses to any follow-up questions are the fastest route to approval. We do not promise a fixed timeline.
Is verification a guarantee that my bid will succeed?
No. Verification, an accepted Member Terms and an approved deposit let you place bids, which are submitted to Copart in real time through the Copart API. Vehicles are sold as-is by third-party auction sources, and we make no guarantees about condition, title, mileage, history, the outcome of any bid, or timelines.
What happens to my documents after verification?
They are accessible only to authorised compliance staff, processed in line with applicable data-protection law, and retained only as long as legally required before secure deletion. See our Privacy Policy and Data Security Policy for full detail.
